Splankna Therapy – Is it really Christian ?
“And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into (made to appear as) an angel of light . . . Therefore it is no great thing if his servants also be made to appear as servants of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works !”
– II Corinthians 11:14
Recently, I received an email request from a dear Christian lady here in the United States, who is seeking to help others who have suffered from trauma and emotional distress. As she has been searching for the best methods and way to bring healing to these patients, she was encouraged by a friend to begin training in a new holistic practice known as Splankna Therapy. This therapy was founded by Sarah J. Thiessen, who openly expresses a strong faith in Christ, and whose methods and protocol for emotional healing is reported as being “Christian.”
Although the Christian woman who contacted us could not identify the problem, after she began the training in Splankna, she continued to feel a spiritual “uneasiness” with the program and its teachings. “Something,” she said, “just did not feel right” . . .
Since this lady was a sincere follower of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus, she knew that this uneasiness was a sign to seek the LORD our God for His wisdom and discernment. And as she prayed she was led to contact us for help with this question . . .
Is the practice of Splankna Therapy spiritually safe, and is it truly a Christian method of mental and emotional healing ?
As one closely examines the teachings and practice of Splankna Therapy, red flags of warning almost immediately begin to appear.
For our Mighty God asks us . . . “How can two walk together except they be agreed ?” and again our Lord (Sovereign King) and Saviour admonishes each of us today, saying . . . “What communion hath Light with darkness? and what part (inheritance) hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? . . . for you are the temple of the Living (Life-giving) God; as God hath said !”
– Amos 3:3 and II Corinthians 6:14-16
There is much in today’s modern world that calls itself Christian; but simply repackaging and rewording the description of a once pagan or occult practice, does not simply take away its spiritual influence nor its dangers. The roots and source of these holistic practices must be closely examined in the Light of the Word of God; and if it fails this test, then it should be avoided at all costs.
note: Within the following paragraphs, there are statements included which are taken directly from the Splankna Therapy’s two main websites. Please read carefully with an open Bible and prayer, for our Lord’s wisdom and discernment. ref: James 1:5-8
On the surface, the practice of Splankna appears benign and safe. In fact, the founder and teachers of this new therapy say, . . . that Splankna Therapy is “the first Christian-based Energy psychology.” And it was developed for the purpose of “redeeming the field of energy healing for the Kingdom of God.”
But is this even possible ? Did this therapy and the eastern esoteric principles upon which it is based ever belong to the Kingdom of God?
That which should cause every born again Christian serious concern, is the way that the promoters of this practice openly blend eastern mysticism and pantheism with the Word of Almighty God. They say, that “Energy Psychology is a group of treatment protocols . . . that use the same bodily system that chiropractic and acupuncture is based on.” This means the eastern mystical theory of “meridians;” or “chi energy pathways” that is reportedly said to reside within the body. Although this theory is heavily promoted in almost every new age, holistic and eastern healing practice, it remains today absolutely unproven by modern medical science !
And we must remember, that . . . just because something appears to work, does not mean that it is approved of God !
(A Subtle Deception – the Spiritual Dangers Behind Acupuncture, TCM and Energy Healing)
Along with the use of the “Chinese meridian theory,” there are two other protocols of this questionable practice that must be mentioned; for they also stand as red flags and a warning to every Christian who is looking for help with mental or emotional healing.
The first of these is the use of what is called “muscle-testing;” a practice that is also known as “Applied Kinesiology.” This practice is an ancient form of divination,* that is condemned by the Word of God, and yet taught and practiced within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for more than 2000 years. Please see the video link above for a more detailed look at the roots of this ancient mystical theory.
Divination (H7081, H780) = to divine, an oracle, to seek information from occult or pagan spiritual sources, a soothsayer, witchcraft
According to masters in the Splankna Therapy . . . the “Energy Psychology refers to this field of treatment protocols that seek to alleviate unhealthy or unhelpful triggers and psychological symptoms via biomeridian manipulation. The biomeridian system (bio-meridian = living energy pathways) is a collection of paths in the body along which neurological “energy” [is said to] flows.”
Holistic physicians and practitioners of this therapy, continue and say, that . . . “Muscle-testing (adapted from applied kinesiology) can be used to access this subconsciously stored emotional content. Any major muscle in the body that is fairly well isolated, will respond to electrical/energetic shifts that go off in the body. A trained Splankna practitioner can ascertain the root emotion that is fueling a particular symptom through muscle testing. In addition, the practitioner can find when the emotion first occurred and where the emotion is stored in the body’s neurological system. These emotions are then [said to be] resolved on the energetic level and the fuel behind the trauma symptom is neutralized.”
note: This quote above has been taken directly from the “lifesourcecoaches.com” website. The man and woman who lead the training at this center, are two of the most prominent Splankna Therapy teachers and healers within the United States.
But how is this emotional trauma and memory “neutralized energetically” ?
After spending nearly 25 years of active training and teaching in the Asian martial arts, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong (energy healing), I was taught by the grandmasters that this very same “energy” which the Daoist and Buddhist called Chi, is also known by other names in various cultures around the world. In the arts of Japan, such as Judo and Aikido, this “energy” is referred to as Ki; and to the Hindu or practitioners of Yoga this same energy is known as Prana.
And even here in the western world, within the New age, Transcendental and New Thought movements, this same “energy” is known as Oregon energy, the ‘god-spark,’ or Vibrational Energy. But regardless of its name, when one looks closely at the source and methods used for invoking this “universal energy,” the power is one and the same.
note: When these holistic healers, martial artists, gurus, yogis and eastern mystics speak of this energy and call it “god,” or “the divine,” they honestly believe that this force that they feel and experience is a manifestation of a universal energy, which is said to reside within all things.
But here they are terribly mistaken, for it is through this eastern philosophy that that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, lays a snare which is designed to deceive the whole world, and will cause millions to lose eternal Life, and that Salvation (freedom, deliverance, healing and restoration) purchased and assured to them, through living faith alone in Jesus Christ !
The following statement is taken from author Grace Ji-sun Kim. She holds the title of Professor of Theology at Earlham School of Religion, and is also a highly sought after lecturer in the fields of Ecumenism (uniting as one all of the world’s religions), Emerging Christianity and Feminism.
Of the 19 books that Grace Kim has authored, two in particular should raise questions to every Bible believing Christian. The first is “The Holy Spirit, Chi, and the Other,” published in 2011, and her more recent work, a book titled “Reimagining Spirit,” just released last year. In both of these works, the author leads the reader into a journey of pantheism; seeking to join the far eastern concept of ‘universal energy’ with the Biblical teaching of the Holy Spirit.
Here, she is echoing that same subtle deception, through which Satan ensnared Dr. John H. Kellogg nearly one hundred years ago. A deception which we have been warned would come in even greater power, just before our Lord and Saviour’s return !
Grace Kim writes . . . “Many ethnic groups have concepts similar to Chi thus making connections between Chi and the Divine or sacred. The Egyptians call it Ka, the Hebrew have Ruach, the Japanese have ki, the Indians (Hindu) call it prana, and the Igbos of Nigeria call it Chi.
“The world is becoming more and more globalized, resulting in local cultures that are increasingly multi-religious, multilingual, and multicultural. In this context (globalization, the world being brought together as one), it is important to recognize the differences between people and the similarities among cultures and religions.
“This world is filled by the Spirit and the Spirit needs to be recognized by people of various cultures. Besides Ruach, pneuma, and Chi, there are other terminologies in various cultures that also capture this idea of Spirit/Breath of God. As we examine the religions found in different parts of the world, we do not find many spirits . . . [but rather], we find various names for the Spirit.
“Chi is the cosmic energy that is present in the world and is mentioned or captured in the majority of world religions. It is in the realm of this Spirit that all religions open themselves and reach out to be related to other religions.
“Spirit is the foundational and transcendental level on which all religions could meet and remain related. To the extent of our capacity to experience the Spirit, we can be authentic followers of the religion of our choice and practice. The religions all lead to “the Divine” and we need to understand that the Spirit in each is from the same source- God. Chi is everywhere. It dwells in everything in the universe.”
– Grace Kim, author of “The Holy Spirit, Chi, and the Other.”
According to a renowned Hindu Swami and author Muktananda, this universal energy or “life-force” is said to be known also as the Kundalini or Serpent power.
Swami Muktananda says . . . “Within every human being lies a divine energy called Kundalini. This energy has two aspects: one manifests this worldly existence, and the other leads us to the highest truth. The mundane aspect of this energy is functioning perfectly, but the inner aspect is dormant, sleeping. When the inner Kundalini energy is awakened, it sets off different processes of yoga (union with Brahman) within us, and leads us to the state of the Self. This is why there is no knowledge more important that the knowledge of Kundalini.
So what is this Kundalini?
Muktananda further writes . . . “Almost every tradition [religious] speaks of Kundalini in one form or another and describes Kundalini in its own way. In Japanese it is called Ki; in Chinese, Chi; the Scriptures of Christianity call it the Holy Spirit. What is that Kundalini? It is the power of the Self, the power of Consciousness . . .
It is only when the Kundalini (serpent power) is awakened, that we become aware of our true nature, of our greatness; of the fact that not only do we belong to God, but that we are God !”
– Swami Muktananda, Hindu guru
Today we are hearing the very whispers of that same voice, which spoke to the our first parents in Eden . . . tempting and casting his shadow of doubt upon God’s Word; and telling all of mankind, that in fact, we are as gods. The apple does not fall far from the tree . . .
Is it like Reiki?
This question is asked on the Splankna Therapy’s primary web site, and their answer is given . . . “Reiki is a treatment that uses the acupuncture/energy system to help resolve symptoms (typically physical). The practitioner learns to feel the body’s energy/frequencies with the hands and move them above the body, helping “stuck” areas flow properly again (similar to what acupuncture needles are doing).
“However, the practice of Reiki commonly utilizes spirit guides, symbols, remote work and “attunement” initiations in order to manipulate a person’s energy. Sometimes these practices can, (knowingly or unknowingly) be done under the enemy’s direction rather than God’s. It is possible to do Reiki work within God’s design and leadership . . . but unfortunately, most practitioners are not.”

Reiki = Rei (universal life) + ki (energy)
In the quote above, the author is taking the very same spiritual view that is now permeating many of the western medical and almost all of the holistic medical practices across the world. The idea of a “universal energy” that can be called upon or “tapped into” for healing, is growing at an alarming rate. And within these practices, the line between religion and science is rapidly becoming blurred.
In a powerful statement from Dr. Frances V. Clark, a Transpersonal psychotherapist, she refers to our culture’s modern fascination with occult energies, and says “In recent years we have learned much about releasing energy, raising energy, transforming energy, directing energy, and controlling energy flow. Yet the energy we are talking about remains undefined.”
– Frances Clark, “Exploring Intuition: Prospects and Possibilities,” The Journal of Transpersonal Psychology, vol. 5, no. 2, 1973, p.163
And another author, Dr. Margie M. Mulligan and Gerri Korri, reveal this same finding in an even more startling form. In their book, “Toward Higher Consciousness – Esoteric Acupuncture and Soul Notes,” the authors state, that . . .
“Resonance Healing or vibrational medicine is rapidly gaining clients as people realize the benefits and low level of negative side effects. People from all walks of life are sharing their alternative healing experiences with their friends, whether from acupuncture, sound therapy or other healing disciplines based on vibration such as Reiki, and other energy healing such as homeopathy, bio-resonance or electro-magnetic therapy,* flower essences, gem and crystal elixirs, and tuning forks [a practice also known as water witching].
The mental and emotional effects of these healing approaches are being recognized as our model of humans as multi-dimensional beings which expands beyond the physical. In addition, many of these complementary medicine approaches are being used to support spiritual emergence.”
– Dr. Margie M. Mulligan and Gerri Korri, L.Ac.CC, MATCM, September 29, 2003
Two of the other protocol methods advocated and employed within the Splankna Therapy is the combined use of Algorithms & Bi-laterals: (adapted from Thought Field Therapy and E.M.D.R.).
According to the founder and training source website, “one of the unique elements of the Splankna Protocol is the elegant combination of algorithm work* (founded by Roger Callahan) and bi-lateral eye movements (founded by Francine Shapiro – also known as EMDR). The Splankna Practitioner will walk the client through the tapping algorithm (meridian tapping), moving quickly from one meridian point to another while the client focuses on the particular trauma or emotional content.
“Unique to Splankna, at the end of each algorithm (meridian tapping session), bi-lateral eye movements (EMDR) are inserted. The client continues to tune into the emotional trauma content while following the practitioner’s fingers in a rapid bi-lateral pattern, assisting the brain in resolving “stuck” trauma processes.”

Quote – “I have been shown that we must be guarded on every side, and perseveringly resist the insinuations and devices of Satan. He has transformed himself into an angel of light, and is deceiving and leading thousands captive. The advantages he takes of the science of the human mind, is tremendous. Here, serpent-like, he (Satan) imperceptibly creeps in to corrupt the work of God [within the mind].
The sciences of phrenology, psychology, and mesmerism (hypnosis), have been the channel through which Satan has come more directly to this generation, and wrought with that power which was to characterize his work near the close of probation.
Satan has come unperceived through these sciences, and poisoned the minds of thousands and led them to infidelity. He is well pleased to have them [these sciences so-called] spread wide. It is his own plan, laid out by himself . . . so that he may have access to minds, and influence them as he pleases. And while it is believed that one human mind so wonderfully affects another, Satan, ready at hand, insinuates himself, and works on the right hand and on the left.
And while those devoted to these sciences laud (praise) them to the heavens, because of the great and good works which they affirm are wrought by them, they are cherishing and glorifying Satan himself, who steps in and works with all power and signs and lying wonders– with all deceivableness of unrighteousness. ref: II Thessalonians 2:7-10
Said the angel, “Mark its influence, for the controversy between Christ and Satan is not yet ended.” This entering in of Satan through the sciences, is well devised by his Satanic majesty, and will eventually root out of the minds of thousands true faith in Christ’s being the Messiah, the Son of God !”
– Spiritual Gifts, volume 4b, p.80-81
The experience of the past will be repeated –
“In the future, Satan’s superstitions will assume new forms. Errors will be presented in a pleasing and flattering manner. False theories, clothed with garments of light, will be presented to God’s people. Thus Satan will try to deceive, if possible, the very elect. Most seducing influences will be exerted; minds will be hypnotized . . . !”
– 8 Testimonies, p.293
Last but not least, and perhaps the most startling deception to be found in Splankna Therapy, is that . . . woven throughout the writings and teachings of its founder (Sarah J. Thiessen) are the subtle lies of Pantheism . . . a deception that shook the Christian world during the 1800 and 1900s.
This philosophy, which grew under the seductive influence of Hinduism, and exerted an almost unbelievable sway over the political and thought leaders of the west, wrought to destroy the very fabric of our nation’s Christian faith. And today, these pantheistic teachings which began at that forbidden tree in Eden, our Lord and Saviour has warned . . . will be the very foundation of the last great apostasy!
Each of the eastern mystical practices which Sarah Thiessen seeks to modify, and blend within her own practice of Splankna Therapy, finds at its very core the principle and philosophies of Pantheism. This pagan theory is woven like a thread throughout all of the Buddhist, Daoist and Hindu healing practices. And it is this teaching, that God (Deity, the divine) is an essence which pervades all matter . . . that opens the door for Satan and his fallen angels to gain access to the hearts and minds of mankind.
“Ye shall not surely die, but ye shall be as gods . . . !”
– Genesis 3:1-5
We are providing a link to the following video from Secrets Unsealed. This is part 2 of a nine message series entitled “Alpha & Omega – the Roots of that Tree.” This series helps to identify the source of the theory of Pantheism, how it first came into the Christian church, and the role this pagan theory will play in the last great deception of this world’s history
Alpha & Omega, part.2 (The Roots of the Tree)
The theory of Pantheism is a tremendous and most subtle of lies, for the LORD God created all matter, but He is not within all matter. The creation and its Creator (Jehovah, YHWH) are not one and the same !
Quote – The warnings of the Word of God regarding the perils surrounding the Christian church belong to us today. “As in the days of the apostles men tried by tradition and philosophy to destroy faith in the Scriptures.
So today, by the pleasing sentiments of higher criticism, evolution, spiritualism, theosophy, and pantheism, the enemy of righteousness is seeking to lead souls into forbidden paths. To many the Bible is as a lamp without oil, because they have turned their minds into channels of speculative belief that bring misunderstanding and confusion.
The work of higher criticism, in dissecting, conjecturing, reconstructing, is destroying faith in the Bible as a Divine revelation. It is robbing God’s Word of power (ref: Psalm 33:6-9) to control, uplift, and inspire human lives. By spiritualism, multitudes are taught to believe that desire is the highest law, that license is liberty . . . and that man is accountable only to himself.”
– Acts of the Apostles, p.474
Quote – Today there are coming “into educational institutions and into the churches everywhere spiritualistic teachings that undermine faith in God and in His Word (ref: Numbers 23:19 and Isaiah 55:8-11). The theory that God is an essence pervading all nature is received by many who profess to believe the Scriptures; but, however beautifully clothed, this theory is a most dangerous deception.
It misrepresents God and is a dishonor to His greatness and majesty. And it surely tends not only to mislead, but to debase men. Darkness is its element, sensuality its sphere. The result of accepting it is separation from God. And to fallen human nature this means ruin.
Our condition through sin is unnatural, and the power that restores us must be supernatural, else it has no value. There is but One power that can break the hold of evil from the hearts of men, and that is the power of God (Deity, divinity) in Jesus Christ. Only through the blood of the Crucified One is there cleansing from sin (Romans 6:1-11).
His grace* (Divine Influence within the heart) alone can enable us to resist and subdue the tendencies of our fallen nature. The spiritualistic theories concerning God make His grace* (Divine Influence) of no effect. If God is an essence pervading all nature, then He dwells in all men; and in order to attain holiness, man has only to develop the power within himself.
These theories, followed to their logical conclusion, sweep away the whole Christian economy. They do away with the necessity for the atonement* (at-one-ment) and make man his own savior. These theories regarding God make His Word of no effect (ref: John 6:63 and I Thessalonians 2:13), and those who accept them are in great danger of being led finally to look upon the whole Bible as a fiction !”
– Ministry of Healing, p.428-429
ref: John 10:30 and 17:21
Quote – We must keep close to the Word of God. “We need its warnings and encouragement, its threatenings and promises. We need the perfect example given only in the life and character of our Saviour. Angels of God will preserve His people while they walk in the path of duty; but there is no assurance of such protection for those who deliberately venture upon Satan’s ground.
An agent of the great deceiver will say and do anything to gain his object. It matters little whether he calls himself a spiritualist, an “electric physician,” or a “magnetic healer” (referring to Animal magnetism and mesmerism). By specious pretenses he wins the confidence of the unwary. He pretends to read the life history and to understand all the difficulties and afflictions of those who resort to him. Disguising himself as an angel of light, while the blackness of the pit is in his heart, he manifests great interest in women who seek his counsel.
He tells them that all their troubles are due to an unhappy marriage. This may be too true, but such counsel does not better their condition. He tells them that they need love and sympathy. Pretending great interest in their welfare, he casts a spell over his unsuspecting victims, charming them as the serpent charms the trembling bird. Soon they are completely in his power, and sin, disgrace, and ruin are the terrible sequel.
“The apostles of nearly all forms of spiritism claim to have power to heal. They attribute this power to electricity, magnetism (hypnosis), the so-called sympathetic remedies, or to latent forces within the mind of man.
Satanic agents claim to cure disease. They attribute their power to electricity, magnetism, or the so-called sympathetic remedies, while in truth they are but channels for Satan’s electric currents. By this means he casts his spell over the bodies and souls of men.
Those who give themselves up to the sorcery of Satan (ref: Acts 8:5-11) may boast of great benefit received thereby, but does this prove their course to be wise or safe? What if life should be prolonged? What if temporal gain should be secured? Will it pay in the end to disregard the will of God? All such apparent gain will prove at last an irrecoverable loss. We cannot with impunity break down a single barrier which God has erected to guard His people from Satan’s power !”

A Request for an Opinion
A request to evaluate and express my understanding on a certain mind therapy was recently asked of me. The name of the mind therapy is “Splankna Training Institute.” It claims to use a Biblically based; Jesus centered “mind-body” protocol to effect/correct mental-emotional change for mental distress. This discipline claims to have separated “Energy Psychology” from New Age theology and to “biblically redeem these tools for the Body of Christ.”
The question that immediately comes to my mind; is it possible to take protocols and fundamental doctrines long used in the worship of Satan, sanitize them, and apply them to service of Jesus Christ the Divine Son of God?
In review of the web site promoting this therapy three principles were listed, see below.
- Get to the root cause:
a. Ask the “Spirit of God” to search through ones soul to find the original root cause of the emotional symptoms whatever they may be.
b. The statement is made that the body stores emotions/memories as vibrational “frequencies” in various organs of the body apart from the brain.
c. The location of the stored “emotions” can be found by using “Muscle Testing.” What is muscle testing? It is more often called “Applied Kinesiology” which is a form of occult divination. The article continues: that with this method of divination there are “subtle electrical shifts” within the body which is reflected in the strength of muscles being tested when there is stored “trauma” in the body.
- Transformation:
a. With finding the location of the stored trauma/memories by divination of muscle testing the Holy Spirit is said to then move into that location in which they are held and release them. Then one invites Jesus to come into that physical location which held the “emotional trauma” and fill it with “truth.”
- Empowerment:
a. Splankna Institute tells us that they “get the baggage out of the way” and empower one “to call on God to eternal life.”
Another form of therapy that is recommended to be used with the above described treatment is called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing “EMDR,” that helps to expedite the processing of traumatic memories. It is promoted that EMDR can often speed up the healing process from these disturbing memories or experiences in a fraction of the time previously required of talk therapies for emotional trauma. This procedure has the client thinking on the “trigger” that brings on the emotional distress.. The therapists then has the client watch his hand or finger (therapist’s) which moves to left and right in a repeated manner, by turning the eyes to the left and right and not turning the head. This is continued until the “trigger” fades from memory. Each different trigger is dealt with in similar manner.
My thoughts on this therapy:
- The Devil is a genius at inserting into what is true his deceptions therefore it is not expected that one will find every act to be a part of the deception. Any part not true discredits the whole therapy.
- For one familiar with the writings and dogma of the Spirituality teachings of today certain phrases standout like a pulsating neon sign. One such phrase is “emotions stored as frequencies.” The teaching of frequencies arises from the false story of creation wherein a “Cosmic Power” (apart from a living being, God) which was two sided (good – evil; yin – yang ) eventually balanced and in so doing created the cosmos, earth, and mankind. A sound (OO00mm) was emitted at the creation, and all creation including thought, so proclaimed, has its own frequency. This “Christ Centered Therapy” has bought into the false story of creation.
- The use of “muscle testing” which is simply “Applied Kinesiology” an occult form of divination is enough of itself for one to discredit the therapy and the therapists.
- The explanation given of the believed physiology of muscle testing has no foundation in known science.
- Using DMDR to remove the trigger that initiates the emotional disturbance being treated causes me to believe that this is a form of hypnotism. That is my understanding. Hypnotism is the therapeutic agent in many of so called “mind cures” of today. I supply a quotation from an expert in this field.
“The business world is offered commercial mind-training courses by a variety of teachers. Some of these courses teach hypnotism even though the title of the course will not suggest so. Course titles such as “conditioning,” “programming,” “brain-wave training,” “Alpha training,” etc., may actually be hypnosis. There can be consequential adverse effects to the student taking part in such a course. Elmer and Alyce Green (researchers in psychology), in their book, Beyond Biofeedback, state that thousands of students in these courses will sooner or later experience serious mental changes such as neurosis or even psychosis. They warn that the greatest danger, however, is obtaining psychic advisers who are assistants in the course. The Greens warn that there is the possibility of mediumistic “possession” via the influence of the advisers.18”
In conclusion:
would recommend avoiding partaking in either of the above described practices. The use of “muscle testing” is divination which the Bible warns us to beware of and the eye movement (EMDR) strongly suggests of hypnotism.
Helpful quotations of E.G. White relevant to the subject.
“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Colossians 2:8. {FLB 320.1} E.G. White tells us this verse especially applies to the end time deceptions that the devil will bring upon the world.
“There is, however, a form of mind cure that is one of the most effective agencies for evil. Through this so-called science, one mind is brought under the control of another so that the individuality of the weaker is merged in that of the stronger mind. One person acts out the will of another. Thus it is claimed that the tenor of the thoughts may be changed, that health-giving impulses may be imparted, and patients may be enabled to resist and overcome disease.” {MH 242.1}
“This method of cure has been employed by persons who were ignorant of its real nature and tendency, and who believed it to be a means of benefit to the sick. But the so-called science is based upon false principles. It is foreign to the nature and spirit of Christ. It does not lead to Him who is life and salvation. The one who attracts minds to himself leads them to separate from the true Source of their strength.” {MH 242.2}
“ It is not God’s purpose that any human being should yield his mind and will to the control of another, becoming a passive instrument in his hands. No one is to merge his individuality in that of another. He is not to look to any human being as the source of healing. His dependence must be in God. In the dignity of his God-given manhood he is to be controlled by God Himself, not by any human intelligence.” {MH 242.3}
“ The theory of mind controlling mind was originated by Satan, to introduce himself as the chief worker, to put human philosophy where divine philosophy should be. Of all the errors that are finding acceptance among professedly Christian people, none is a more dangerous deception, none more certain to separate man from God, than is this. Innocent though it may appear, if exercised upon patients it will tend to their destruction, not to their restoration. It opens a door through which Satan will enter to take possession both of the mind that is given up to be controlled by another, and of the mind that controls.” {MH 243.1}
